Virginia "Jenny" Annette (Cooper) Griggs

Mrs. Virginia “Jenny” Annette Griggs was born July 30, 1949 in Lutts, TN to the late Russ and Louise Price Cooper. She was united in marriage to Boyd Griggs on July 29, 1970. Mr. Griggs preceded her in death on June 22, 2002. When remembering her, most will remember her kind treatment and friendly demeanor to all who entered Griggs Store. She especially loved the kids that would come to the store. It would be no surprise that her grandbabies held a very special place in her heart. In her later years, she loved doing cross-word puzzles, reading the newspaper, watching the news, and talking about politics. Mrs. Griggs departed this life on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at Wayne Medical Center in Waynesboro, TN making her stay in this life some 74 years, 7 months, and 6 days.

Those left behind to cherish her memory include her two sons, James Griggs and wife Angie; Steve Griggs and wife Connie both of Waynesboro, TN; a daughter, April Thompson and husband Kenneth of Iron City, TN; a sister, Denise Davis and husband Johnny of Waynesboro, TN; Grayford Cooper of Summertown, TN; four grandchildren, Taylor Buchanan and husband Ben; Morgan Griggs and wife Hannah; McKenzie Thompson; Logan Thompson; She is also survived by three great grandchildren, Bentley Buchanan, Tate Buchanan, and Caroline Griggs.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Billy Joe Cooper; Richie Cooper; four sisters, Edith Butler; Wanda Bunch; Judy Ann Cooper; and Betty Cooper.

Visitation with the Griggs family will be on Thursday, March 7, 2024 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and again on Friday, March 8, 2024 from 11:00 AM until 3:00 PM all at Bates-Love Funeral and Cremation Chapel.

Funeral services will begin at 3:00 PM on Friday, March 8, 2024, at Bates-Love Funeral and Cremation Chapel with Jimmy Pearcy officiating. Interment will follow in the Waynesboro Memorial Gardens.
