In Loving Memory of Steven S. Winn
Steven S. Winn, a devoted follower of Jesus, beloved husband, cherished son, brother, pastor
and friend, peacefully passed away on April 24, 2025, in Clifton, Tennessee, at the age of 50.
Born on December 30, 1974, in Medford, Oregon, Steven was the cherished son of Kenneth G.
Winn and the late Sharon L. Smith-Winn. Steven graduated from high school in 1993 at the
Weimar Academy in Weimar, California and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree at Pacific
Union College in Angwin, California in 1997. Steven became an author, editor, and publisher,
creating his own publishing company called Winn Books. Steven used his gift of words to
encourage, challenge, and inspire.
A man of deep faith, compassion, and intellect, Steven dedicated his life to serving God and
serving others. Through his ministry, Connect to Hope Fellowship, he offered spiritual comfort
and guidance to many, often traveling long distances to sit with someone in need. Instead of
offering support from afar, he showed up, fully present, with a listening ear and a compassionate
heart. His presence was his promise, and he never hesitated to keep it.
Steven married his longtime friend, companion and ministry partner, Valerie Bass on March 9,
2025 and spent his last months in her constant care and love.
Steven is survived by his wife, Valerie Bass-Winn, of College Place, Washington; Father and
Stepmother, Kenneth and Nancy Winn of Citrus Heights, California; sister, Brenda Fish and
husband Trent, of Ridgefield, Washington; nephews, Tyler and Zachary Fish, both of Ridgefield,
Washington; Uncle and Aunt Calvin L. and Virginia L. Smith of Mauk Lek, Thailand; cousin,
Jennifer Dill of Auburn, Washington; and many other beloved family members and friends.
Steven is preceded in death by his Mother, Sharon L. Smith-Winn and his cousin, Darcy L.
Smith.
Steven will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but the ripples of his ministry of love and
service will continue on through the lives of the countless many he touched.
A celebration of life will be held at Echo Valley Outpost in Clifton, Tennessee on May 10, 2025.
The time will be announced at a later date.
Matthew 25:21 His Lord said unto him, well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been
faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.
Celebration of Life Services will be held May 10 Saturday at 1:00 pm at Echo Valley in Clifton,TN.
