Mrs. Shirley Skelton Luker was born in Wayne County TN February 3, 1942, to the late Arthur and Nettie Carroll Skelton. Mrs. Luker was united in marriage to her late husband Glen Luker in 1959 and remained married until his passing on May 06, 2006, she was a lifelong Wayne County resident spending over thirty years serving the public as a renowned cosmetologist at Shirleys Cut and Curl in Waynesboro. She loved working with the public taking a personal interest in all the customers she served over the years. Especially since her retirement, she enjoyed spending her time tending her flower garden, vegetable garden and keeping her lawn. She was of the Methodist Faith and above all made serving the Lord one of her top priorities. The Sunset on her life on May 06, 2024, at the Wayne Medical Center in Waynesboro, TN making her stay on this earth some 82 years, 3 months and 3 days.
She is survived by her daughter Jonia Boston and husband Jerry of Waynesboro, TN; brother Paul Skelton and wife Jennette of Waynesboro, TN, Edgar Skelton and wife Lottie of MI, and sister Roberta Rochell of Waynesboro, TN, grandchildren Damien Skelton and wife Taylor, Daniel Skelton and wife Jessicca, Shannon Scheri and Jenny White and husband John Paul; great- grandchildren Macie Skelton, Rachel Massey, Neely Scheri, Anna Scheri, Thomas Scheri, John White, Jack White and Juliana White; companion and close friend for over 17 years David Brown of Clifton, TN.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a grandson Andy Horton, brothers Eddie Skelton, Mack Skelton, Walter Skelton, Wilie Skelton, Hershel Skelton and Franklin Skelton, sisters Peggy Garrison, Bulah Mathis, Lydia Clayton and Margaret Carroll
Services will be held on Friday May 10, 2024, at the Bates-Love Funeral and Cremation, LLC chapel at 2:00 pm with N.J. Pope officiating and committal service and burial at the Waynesboro Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held on Friday May 10, 2024, from 12:00 pm until service time all at Bates-Love Funeral and Cremation, LLC chapel.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Chad Gobbell, Dave Mathis, Ethan Holt, Ronnie Skelton, Tim Skelton, Jeff Mathis and honorary pallbearer Andrew Butler.
