Ronnie Lee “Round Man” Pope, a devoted follower of Jesus, beloved husband, cherished son, father, brother, minister and friend, was promoted to Glory on April 29, 2025 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN, at the age of 70 years, 8 months and 25 days.
Born on August 4, 1954 in Waynesboro, TN to the late Clyde Lee Pope and Cordelia Marie White Pope. Ronnie married Theresa Hammond Pope on August 7, 1974.
A man of deep faith, compassion, and intellect, Ronnie dedicated his life to serving God and serving others. Ronnie served 25 years as the minister of Topsy Church of Christ, where he gave guidance to many. He conducted many funerals and gave his entire heart to the grieving family.
Ronnie is survived by his wife of 50 years, Theresa Hammond Pope of Waynesboro, TN; one son, Brent Pope (Kendra) of Lawrence County, TN; two daughters, Bridgett Pope Nutt of Waynesboro, TN; Belinda Pope Couch (Derek) of Cassville, MO. One granddaughter, Molly Beth Pope of Lawrence County, TN, and an expected grandchild in September who Ronnie lovingly nicknamed George Annie; two brothers, NJ Pope and Donald Ray Pope of Waynesboro, TN and two sisters, Anita Carol Warren (Richard) and Linda Blackwell (Kennith) of Waynesboro; three nieces, Robin Pope and Crystal Ray of Waynesboro and Elizabeth Tarquinto of Plymouth, MI; three nephews, Jason Neal Pope of Berlin, CN; John Blackwell and Eric Warren of Waynesboro, TN; one uncle, Dan White of Waynesboro, TN; a special niece, Emma of Waynesboro, TN; He is also survived by several great nieces and nephews as well as a host of cousins and friends.
A passion Ronnie pursued was Coon Hunting and always tried to be at the Parson Coon Hunting Event each year but couldn’t attend this year. He counted all those in the coon hunting club as family.
Ronnie’s service will continue through the lives of the countless many he touched.
Visitation with Ronnie’s family will be on Thursday, May 1, 2025 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM and again on Friday, May 2, 2025 from 10:00 AM until service time at 11:30 AM
Funeral Services will begin on Friday, May 2, 2025 at 11:30 AM at Bates-Love Funeral and Cremation Chapel with Jay Burks officiating. Interment will follow in the Waynesboro Memorial Gardens.
