Mr. Robert Gerald Skimehorne was born July 13, 1950 in Hohenwald, TN to the late James Dexter and Mary Jane Staggs Skimehorne. He was united in marriage to the former Lemma Williams. He was of the Free Will Baptist Faith. Mr. Skimehorne will be remembered for his love for animals. He especially loved feeding the hogs and gardening. He loved to take what he had grown or gone to the Amish and bought and take it around Wayne County to give it away. He loved to ride horses. He was a 7 year speed racking horse world champion with his beloved horse Speck. While living in Antioch, he worked as a heavy equipment operator, and then retired as a diesel mechanic from the Wayne County Highway Department. Mr. Skimehorne departed this life on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at the age of 72.
Survivors include his daughters, Ashleigh Lanae Skimehorne of Waynesboro, TN; Christy Gail Skimehorne of Springhill, TN; two brothers, Glen Skimehorne and wife Sue; Dennis Skimehorne and wife Brenda both of Waynesboro, TN; four sisters, Wanda Faye Hill and husband Bobby of Lawrenceburg, TN; Carolyn Nabors of Leoma, TN; Rebecca McMullin and husband Aaron of Perry County, TN; Barbara Gayle Reaves of Waynesboro, TN; he is also survived by 3 grandchildren, his nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, an abundance of loving friends and Teddy, his fur-baby.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Lemma Williams Skimehorne, two brothers, Danny Skimehorne; Tony Skimehorne; a nephew, Dale Skimehorne and three brothers-in-law, Bubba Williams, Jim Nabors, and Steve Reaves
Memorial Services will begin at 3:00 PM on Saturday, March 25, 2023 with Tim Hanback officiating at Forty-Eight Creek Free Will Baptist Church. Visitation with the Skimehorne family will be on Saturday, March 25, 2023 from 1:00 PM until service time at 3:00 PM at Forty-Eight Creek Free Will Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the account setup at People's Bank to help offset expenses.
