Marietta (Cole) Daniel



Marietta Cole Daniel of Toledo, Ohio passed away at her home on Tuesday, December 2, 2025.

Although small in stature, Marietta had a huge heart and spirit, always looking out for her family. Throughout her 93 years, Marietta was recognized for her determination and commitment to whatever challenges she faced. As Valedictorian of the Wayne County High School class of 1949, Marietta demonstrated academic excellence early on. Her strong work ethic continued during her 40 years of dedicated service to Quality Assurance at Ransom & Randolph. Born June 5, 1932, in Waynesboro, TN, she was the youngest and last surviving child of Fred and Marietta (Alley) Cole. Marietta cherished her childhood on Hardin Creek. 

Surviving are her children, Juanita (George) Downey, William Paul Daniel, Jr., Gary (Nancy) Daniel, and Larry Keith (Martha) Daniel; daughter-in-law, Robbie Daniel; nine grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Marietta; husband, William Paul Daniel, Sr.; son, Bobby Lane Daniel; infant daughter, Pauletta; seven siblings; Pauline (James) Lay, Nell (Clarence) Wilson. Eugene (Violet), James, Robert, Claude (Mary Katherine), and Billy (Hazel), son-in-law, Dexter Brittian; grandson, Dexter Lane Brittian; and great-grandson, Connor Adams.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at David R. Jasin-Hoening Funeral Home, 5300 N. Summit St., Toledo, Ohio 43611. Funeral services will begin 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 11, 2025, in the funeral home, Pastor Andrew Edwards III, presiding. There will be an hour of visitation prior to services from 10:00 a.m. to11:00 a.m.

Graveside Services will be held Sunday December 14,2025 at 2:00 pm. 

Marietta will be interred in Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery, Waynesboro, TN.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memphis. TN.
