David Lon Edwards

David Lon Edwards was born December 09, 1952 in Florence, AL to the union of the late Gene Leon and Nettie Lacy Quillen Edwards. He was united in marriage to the former Gail Baugus on August 02, 1972. Together, the two built a beautiful life in Waynesboro. Mr. Edwards was a man of service, having honorably served in the United States National Guard for 9 years and working his way to Sergeant with the Tennessee Highway Patrol. He was a member of the Waynesboro FOP. In his free time, most will remember his time spent on the golf course and his love of the game. Mr. Edwards departed this life on Friday, January 31, 2025 at his home in Waynesboro, TN surrounded by his loving family making his stay in this life some 72 years, 1 month, and 23 days. 

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Gail Baugus Edwards of Waynesboro, TN; one son, Michael Edwards and wife Lisa of Waynesboro, TN; one daughter, Keila Akins and husband John of Summertown, TN; one sister, Kay Holt of Waynesboro, TN; he is also survived by five grandchildren, Jamison Edwards and wife Kristen of Florence, AL; Zane Akins, Skylar Akins, Tatum Akins all of Summertown, TN; Aiden Kilgore of Waynesboro, TN; one great-grandchild, Campbell Edwards and one nephew, Steven Holt of Waynesboro, TN.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his grandparents Carrie and Locke Edwards and one niece Amy Holt. 

Visitation with the Edwards family will be on Monday, February 3, 2025 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and again on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM all at Green River Baptist Church.

Funeral Services will begin at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at Green River Baptist Church with Jamison Edwards and Jacob Kitchens officiating. Burial will follow in the Waynesboro Memorial Gardens.
