Brenda G. (Ray) Hill

Mrs. Brenda Gayle Ray Hill was born in Hohenwald, TN to the late Mr. Will Ray Sr. and Mrs. Nannie Lee Inman. Mrs. Hill, being a Wayne County native, spent her childhood being raised on the family farm. She loved plaing in the woods, going barefoot, and playing and fighting with her brothers. She graduated from Frank Hughes High School in Clifton, TN in 1970. On July 25, 1972 she married Willie Ronnie Holder, Sr. In July 1976, she would later marry Clifton Ray Hill, Sr. and continue their lives together making Wayne County their forever home. She would later earn a Nursing Degree and spend many years of her life serving the people of Wayne County and surrounding areas, always with a courteous, friendly manner as she loved getting acquainted with and helping people. Mrs. Brenda was a very generous woman with her time and money as she always made timely contributions to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, with her many contributions, she made the world and the lives of children in need a better place. In her leisure time she enjoyed yard sale shopping, always making friends and finding good deals, she brought smiles to those around her. Her faith in God was always predominant and present, as her Christianity and loving kindness shined for all the world to see. Mrs. Hill loved nature and enjoyed spending time in her flower garden, she possessed a “green thumb” as she was a talented horticulturist and loved watching the seeds she planted grow, whether in her garden or in her family as her children and grandchildren grew.  However, nothing compared to the time she spent with her family, friends and loved ones. Mrs. Brenda Gayle Ray Hill passed from this life in Columbia, TN at the Maury Regional Medical Center, on October 13, 2024, making her stay on this earth some 72 years.

She is survived by her children Willie Holder and wife Sheila of Waynesboro, TN, Jonathan Hill and wife Crystal Herndon of Clifton, TN, Teresa Goodman and husband Chris of Clifton, TN and Pam Stumpe and husband Phil of Savannah, TN, siblings. Jerry Ray and wife Glenda of Waynesboro, TN, James Ray and wife Donna of Clifton, TN, Thomas Ray and wife Judy of Clifton, TN and Donnie Ray and wife Shelia of Savannah, TN; grandchildren Colton Holder, Camryn Holder, Michael Goodman, Daniel Goodman, Jonathan Ray Hill Jr., Evan Jesse Hill, Codi Stumpe, Thomas Hill and Amber Hickerson; great grandchildren Brantley Goodman, Rayln Goodman, Presly Goodman and River Stumpe

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Clifton Ray Hill, Sr. brothers J.W. Ray, W.S. Ray, sister Jean Warren, son Clifton Ray Hill Jr., grandchildren William Hill and Sherri Renae Goodman.
