Billy Joe Williams

Mr. Billy Joe Williams was born in Waynesboro, TN to his father the late Clyde Waco Williams and his mother the late Lucille White. He spent his childhood being raised surrounded by the beauty of Wayne County, a love that he would carry with him for a lifetime. As an adult he worked hard to provide for his family as an autobody repairman for many years until he bought “The Store” in Waynesboro. He enjoyed working with people and becoming acquainted with his fellow towns people. Needing a change of scenery, he then decided to move to Leoma and try his hand at farming. Mr. Williams would later retire and return to his Waynesboro home spending the rest of his days in the outdoors he loved hunting, fishing, digging ginseng and mowing yards. Mr. Billy Joe Williams passed from this life surrounded by family in Savannah, TN making his stay on this earth some 87 years and 18 days.

He is survived by his wife Brenda Glass Williams of Waynesboro, TN; daughters Cynthia Lancaster of Cullman, AL, Angela Williams of Waynesboro, TN and Carla Staggs and husband Brian of Waynesboro, TN; sons Barry Townsend and wife Barbara of Rainsville, AL and Joel Townsend and wife Crystal of Savannah, TN; siblings Katie Philips of Murfreesboro, TN, Joyce Dixon of Waynesboro, TN, Sandra Williams of Auburndale, FL ,Pam Askins of Fortson, GA, Teresa Kinsey of Sheffield, Al, Terry Williams of Forrest City, AR, Mikey Williams of Waynesboro, TN and Diane P of Estill Springs, TN; eleven grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his stepmother Eddie Flippo Williams; siblings Margaret Anderson, Mary Dickey, Jimmy Williams, Barbara Sanderson, Thomas Williams and Lammar Williams; granddaughter Monica Beth Brewer

Graveside services will be held Sunday December 29, 2024 in shields Cemetery at 2:00 pm with Bill Charlton officiating.

Burial will follow in Shields Cemetery.

Visitation with the Wiliams family will begin Sunday December 29, 2024 at 1:00 pm at Shields Cemetery.
