Mr. Billy Wade Love was born October 21, 1942 in Clifton, TN to the late Tim and Bonnie Prater Love. He was united in marriage to the former Carolyn Dixon on January 28, 1977. Mr. Love was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Clifton. He loved to read and especially enjoyed history. In his spare time, he enjoyed working on old John Deere tractors, watching drag racing and metal detecting. He especially loved his family and spending time with his grandkids. He dedicated 38 years of his life on the river, working his way to chief engineer. After working on the river, he worked 14 years with the Union Laborers of TVA. Mr. Love was a proud member of First Fellowship Church in Waynesboro. He departed this life on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 in Nashville, TN making his stay in this life some 81 years, 8 months, and 20 days.
Those left behind to cherish his memory include his wife of 47 years, Carolyn Dixon Love of Waynesboro, TN; his children, Tony Love (Molly); Tracy Linam (Randy) both of Savannah, TN; Stacy Wharton (Maggie) of Savannah, GA; Benita Huette (Scott) of Weimar, TX; Jason Love (Felicia) of Waynesboro, TN; one sister, Randi Love of Savannah, TN; one brother, Larry Tim Love (Janice) of Clifton, TN; He is also survived by twelve grandchildren, LeighAnn Love, Ellen Linam, Abby Linam Mabry (Preston), Randy Wharton (Cony), Shelby Wharton, Lillie Wharton, Lola Wharton, Rayleigh Huette, Brinson Huette, Allison Love Shull (Logan), Blayne Love, Bradley Barrier ; five great grandchildren, Gavin King, Jadyn King, Evelyn Wharton, Jackson Wade Shull, and Dean Shull.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother James Earl “Bud” Love and one sister Candi Love.
Visitation with the Love family will be on Sunday, July 14, 2024 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Bates-Love Funeral and Cremation Chapel and again on Monday, July 15, 2024 from 10:00 AM until service time at 1:00 PM at First Fellowship Church of Waynesboro.
Funeral services will begin at 1:00 PM on Monday, July 15, 2024 at First Fellowship Church of Waynesboro with N.J. Pope and Jason Love officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. View Cemetery in Hardin County.
