Betty Jean Risner was born August 14, 1954 in Waynesboro, TN the daughter of the late Floyd Harold Reeves Sr. and Esther Mae Matlock Reeves. She was united in marriage to Loyal Gene Risner on July 14, 1973. She was raised in Waynesboro and attended Wayne County High School, graduating with the class of 1972. Betty worked for Murray Ohio Manufacturing for 27 years. After Murray closed, she became a CNA while working at Wayne Medical Center. She went on to further her nursing skills and completed the LPN program at TCAT in Hohenwald.
Betty’s hobbies included
reading books, reading the Bible, and watching Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman. One of her favorite things to do was watching her daughters play sports then later watching her grandchildren. She attended every game and every practice until she was no longer physically able, but continued watching them through video recordings or social media and still cheering them on. She also enjoyed every moment she had with her brothers and sisters. Nothing was more important to her than her family and friends.
Betty entered the gates of heaven on July 09, 2025 with family at her bedside leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness and warmth. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her life was defined by her deep love for her family and friends and her generosity will be profoundly missed. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to have known her.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband Loyal Gene Risner, daughters Cassie (Ronnie) Holt and Kimberly Risner Scarberry; grandchildren Launa Beth Holt, Luke Holt, Elleona Risner and Wyatt Stanton all of Collinwood; sisters Mary Ann (James) Butler and Barbara “Bobbie” Davis all of Waynesboro; brother Johnny (Janie) Reeves of Portland TN; several nieces and nephews
In addition to her parents, Betty was reunited with her sister Gearldene “Judy” Boucher Thrasher and brothers Floyd Harold Reaves Jr. and Joe David Reeves.
Honorary pallbearers are Ronnie Holt, Luke Holt, Junior Risner, Wyatt Stanton, Madison Davis, Patricia Thrasher, Kaynen Butler and Teryn James.
Funeral Services will be held on July 11, 2025 at 3:00 pm at Bates-Love Funeral and Cremation Chapel with James Butler and Blake Quillen officiating.
Visitation with the family will begin at 10 am till 3 pm service time all at Bates-Love Funeral and Cremation,LLC Chapel
